I got my manuscript back from the editor and now its time for proofreading! That was a long stressful journey, I’d rather go to nursing school all over again. I first sent it to the editor in April and after a rocky start, I’d like to say it got easier, but it really didn’t, just less rocky.
It looks like a whole new book! I’m happy with it but looking back there were major changes in characters and plot that I could have kept the way I wanted but if I wanted to be able to publish it or sell it, they were things that would take readers out of the story or make them put it down and never pick it up again. I’d rather not get cancelled even before I hit publish. Those changes have to make it through to the next two books now though and that’s going to be a ton of work. Plus I’m not looking forward to go through editing process all over again. So I’m on an editing strike lol. I do have awhile since my plan was to make the money back I spent on getting this one out there before I get the second one professionally edited. I’m still on the fence about trying to get traditionally published or self publish. Both can be difficult and involve a lot of work either way. I thought writing the book was going to the hardest part. But the fun part will be getting a cover, and formatting, I think those are the next steps.
I can’t believe I made it this far and thank you for hanging out with me on my journey!
Still hoping I sell enough books to quit my job but probably won’t or at least be able to work for fun not working 1000 hours a week to pay my student loans. Have a good day everyone!
